New York Times interview with Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall):

God I love this woman! She is such an amazing person and artist.

I finally got a day off after working seven days straight! Woohoo! To celebrate, I changed the layout a bit and planned a new playlist:

  • Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straits
  • Eisley - Memories
  • Wilco - Say You Miss Me
  • The Decemberists - Yankee Bayonet (I Will Be Home Then)
  • Cat Power - I Don't Blame You
  • Iron and Wine - Naked As We Came
  • Joanna Newsom - Bridges and Balloons
I know its kind of somber, but that's just the mood I'm in.

According to the British-songstress's official website, Dido's long-awaited third album will be released later this year. The singer confirms it in a Q&A post in the journal section. Here's a quote from the site:

"Yes, it will be released later this year. I'm loving it so far. Everything's been played live and is more raw but it still stays true to what I love about music that has textures and exciting things and surprises at every layer. I'm really proud of the songs. I didn't think I could get much more personal after album 2 but somehow it's happened again. Even more so. I've played a lot on this album too which has been really satisfying. Basically I've thrown absolutely everything into this record and it's really important to me."

She's also been working with famed producer Jon Brion, who's work has included production for the likes of Fiona Apple, Rufus Wainwright, and Kanye West.

Should be an interesting album if all goes well, I really loved the first two but I really want to see her branch out of her comfort zone a little, and if the rumors about Brion are true, we should see that happening.

Peter, Bjorn, and John interview from Youtube:

Today I was browsing the net and found an interesting project involving blogs and podcasts called "bum rush the charts".

The concept:
Try to get a bunch of podcasters/bloggers to get an indie artist to the #1 spot on the Itunes singles chart in one day.

The point:
To show "traditional media" that untraditional forms of media, such as podcasts or blogs, when united, can do some serious damage.

Of course, this is just what I got out of reading they're website.
The only problem I see here is this: is the "big corporate media" really going to care if you make the #1 spot? Is it going to make that big of a difference?

Anyway, if your interested, all you have to do is download "Mine Again" by Black Lab, for 99 cents on March 22nd, 2007.

On May 1st, Tori Amos will release her highly-anticipated new album, entitled: "American Doll Posse". Along with the album, Amos will embark on a world tour beginning on May 28th in Rome.

And just when you thought nothing could get more interesting than the name of the album, check out the promo pic, I had to stare at for 10 minutes, pay attention to the details.

I wonder if it will be the album cover?

This is shaping up to be quite an amazing year in music...

The always incredible Joanna Newsom will release a brand new three-song EP in April entitled: "Joanna Newsom and the Ys Street Band".

The EP will include one new song and new versions of songs from both Ys and The Milk Eyed Mender.

Love the name, I just hope she doesn't pull a Brandon Flowers and rip off the Boss, not that I could even picture that.

A nice cold bottle of Arizona Tea, a frozen dinner, and the new Peter Bjorn and John album = perfection!!!
So I worked all night and and I have to work from 8 to 8 tomorrow, why did I agree to work weekends again?. This means I'll have zero time to myself all weekend and have no time to get anything productive done. Fantastic.

Anyway, back to my Friday evening, which I am enjoying as I write this.
The tea was great, the dinner was mediocre at best (chicken alfredo, mmm), but the music was superb. I hadn't gotten a chance to listen all the way through until now!

So the album definitely deserves all it's hype and attention. It puts all other indie releases this year to shame (expect maybe a handful). I think this release will forever more be this band's masterpiece, but hopefully I'm wrong and the next will be even better.
My favorite song here is "Young Folks", its one of the most thought-out songs I've heard in quite a while, and puts them right in the center of the mainstream and the indie-stream. Before you worry. the whole album doesn't follow that course, just bits and pieces.

According to her official website, the name and release date of Bjork's new album is to be announced "very soon", along with a handful of live dates.

With all the recent speculation of the album title, I'm still wondering if it will be anything we've heard yet. Some of the contender so far include, "Totempole" (ummm, what?) and "Volta".
My bet is on Volta, is definitely sounds like a Bjork album.

I'm still a bit unsure of her collaborators for this project, (Timbaland and Antony on the same album?! Instanity!) But I trust Bjork and everything she's done in the past (especially Medulla.)

Btw, here's all her live dates for 2007 so far:

■ 07.07.25 - Paleo Festival, Switzerland
■ 07.07.05 - Roskilde , DK
■ 07.07.01 - Open'er, PL
■ 07.06.28 - Rock Werchter , Belgium
■ 07.06.22 - Glastonbury, UK
■ 07.04.27 - Coachella, USA

I'm assuming that if I'm going to have a blog, and people actually read it, maybe they'd like to know a few things about me. Or maybe not?

I'm currently on the verge of moving on to college, which is very exciting and intimidating at the same time. Lots of planning involved there, saving money and what-not. I have a part-time job in the high-paced "luxurious" fast-food business, which I actually really like.

I have a keen interest in all things indie-alternative music, as well as indie films. I could give you a list of all my favorite artists, but that could truly be endless, so I'll just give you one of my current playlists:

  • Bjork - Oceania (Radio mix ft. Kelis)
  • Cat Power - Lived In Bars
  • Kate Bush - Night of the Swallow
  • Sufjan Stevens - Chicago (Multiple Personality Disorder Version)
  • Patrick Wolf - Bluebells
  • Peaches - Downtown
  • Rasputina - The Fox In The Snow
  • Joanna Newsom - Only Skin
  • Bjork - All Is Full Of Love (Plaid Mix)
  • The Killers - On Top
  • Tori Amos - Father Lucifer

I'm kind of half-environmentalist, and a firm believer in global warming and the things we can do to stop it.

And religion is a tough one for sure, I was raised christian but now my beliefs scatter quite a bit.

Well, I think that's enough for now about me...
If your reading, don't forget to comment.

Until next time...

So basically this blog is about my so-very dramatic (yeah right) life and everything else I can mix between, which may include the following: music, news, opinions, cool websites, blogs, videos, and any other interesting stuff you can find at 2:00AM while surfing the net.

So, while I obviously have no readers yet, I hope you enjoy my blog and come back soon... (I won't blame you if you don't)
